Gales Solicitors respond to research which shows that two-thirds of parents make no legal provision for kids

Research from Direct Line Life Insurance shows that 65% of parents have made no legal provision for who would raise their children if they were no longer able to. It was also found that of those who had discussed the matter, 31% wouldn’t give the person access to money from their estate, with 30% saying they would rather leave it in trust for their children.

Kathryn Cole, Wills & Probate lawyer at Gales solicitors in Bournemouth advised, “We would urge families to ensure that they appoint testamentary guardians for their children.  This aspect of will writing is often ignored by parents with young children but it’s a hugely important reason to prepare a will. The figures being reported are shockingly high. “
