The Cromer Pier Theatre Variety Show is back for another record- breaking year. The award- winning Cromer Pier Show is now the only ‘end of the pier’ full season variety show in the world. Advance bookings are flying and the producers are anticipating a hugely popular and successful season.
The show, which won a 2019 Norfolk Arts Award for dance and musical theatre, boasts a diverse mix of entertainment which spans dance, singing, magic and comedy. The popular show is hosted by the super talented comedian Paul Eastwood who manages to seamlessly pull together acts and keep the audiences entertained and in stitches with his cheeky humour and quick- fire wit.
Eastwood has a host of radio and television appearances in his career portfolio. During his long and illustrious career Paul has had the privilege to work with comedy greats such as Freddie Starr, Des O’Connor, Bobby Davro, Jim Davidson and Bernard Manning, to name a few.
Show producers are pier operators, Openwide Coastal Ltd. Seasoned Director and Choreographer for the Cromer Pier Show since 2004 is Di Cooke who returns for another year. Cook has extensive credits in television, theatre and fashion and since last year’s show has directed “Sunday at the Musicals” in London’s West End and “The Lord Mayor’s Show” at London’s Guildhall. Cooke and her creative team have pulled out all the stops and are confident that even with award winning standards to maintain, the 2019 show is destined to be heralded as one of the best yet.
The Seaside Special Dancers delight audiences with their high kicks and sequinned costumes and consist of a hugely talented team of dancers who are sure to wow their audiences.
Comedy comes in the form of an act named, ‘The Man They Call G’. Enjoying a rare talent of mimicry, especially other singers, has allowed comedian G to develop a huge repertoire of singing and spoken impressions. G has appeared on film, radio and TV and has an impressive list of performances at festivals and entertainment venues all over the UK. Some might recognise G from his audition on Britain’s Got Talent when he gained four yes’s from the judges.
Matthew Pomeroy’s captivating magic act, Sleight of Mind, has been watched by over 100,000 people in the last 3 years and has a string of celebrity endorsements including Hugh Jackman, Lady GaGa, Uri Gellar and Simon Cowell. Show business is in Matthew’s blood and he has been captivated and destined for the world of magic since the young age of 12 when he stumbled upon a magic book that would change his life. Audiences are promised an unforgettable and astonishing act, full of mystery and intrigue from this mind reader and conjuror.
Lead vocalists at Cromer Pier Theatre include:
· Emily Yarrow who graduated with a first class degree in Music and Performance. She has performed extensively as a solo singer and actress, touring internationally and nationally; operatic roles performed to date include, “Cio-Cio San” (Puccini’s Madam Butterfly), “Micaela” (Bizet’s Carmen) and “Yum Yum” (The Mikado), to name a few. Emily also sings with The Philharmonia Chorus which tours across Europe.
· Harvey James who studied voice at College and by the age of 21 was working professionally all over the UK and Ireland in Musical Theatre. Musical performances include: Hair, Godspell, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Wizard of Oz.
The 2- hour show, which includes a 30- minute interval in the end of pier theatre, includes 5 days of shows, with matinee and evening performances . Prices from £15 for an adult ticket and £10 for a child ticket.
Cromer Pier is owned and maintained by North Norfolk District Council. The council is spending £275,000 in2018 to improve the pier facilities and a further £150,000 on annual maintenance surveys for the next five years.North Norfolk District Council is proud to be a custodian of this Award Winning National Treasure.
