MYTime Young Carers’ Charity urges people to join 10k team for the ‘Run Bournemouth Festival’

Jun 1, 2020

Dorset based charity, MYTime Young Carers is urging runners to join in with their growing team of runners for the 10k event in the ‘Run Bournemouth Festival’.  The festival takes place over the weekend of 3rd and 4th October 2020, with the 10K race taking place on Sunday 4th October at 4pm.

MYTime Executive Director, Krista Cartlidge said, “It has been amazing to see the number of people who have been out running over the past few weeks, Covid-19 has given a lot of people the opportunity to think about their own health and the time to get out there and enjoy running.

“We would love to encourage as many people as possible to consider running for us.  We are putting together a team for the ‘Supersonic 10K’ race and would love to see a ‘sea’ of runners, all in their MYTime t shirts – what a statement that would make for the charity!”

Anyone wishing to join the MYTime 10k team is urged to enter and register for their official place via  https://www.runbournemouth.com/ and to list MYTime as their nominated charity.

Krista added, “We will then be advised of each runner’s interest and intention to run and will be in touch to make sure that you’re a part of our ‘MYTime running community’. We will provide all team members with a MYTime T Shirt, to be worn during the event and will be in regular contact with training tips and lots of encouragement! We would ask that each runner raises a minimum of £50 for the charity.”

MYTime 10K running team member Katie Griffiths commented, “I have always hated running and only run if I had to.  However, during the Covid-19 lockdown, I’ve started running again, just for fun and to get outdoors. Since it’s always good to have a goal to aim for, I’ve decided to set myself the challenge of running the Bournemouth 10km, because why not?! I’ve chosen to run for MYTime because the work they do is so valuable. Young carers work so hard with so little recognition and giving them a chance to just be themselves like normal young people is so important. I’m proud to be part of it!”

About MYTime Young Carers’ Charity

MyTime provide young carers with a break at their outdoor centre in Worth Matravers, Dorset. These breaks are an opportunity for young carers to have fun, make friends and to take some time for themselves. This is a really valuable opportunity for young carers to meet other people who share some of their experiences, which can help to combat the loneliness young carers report feeling as a result of their caring responsibilities.
