Lewis-Manning’s ‘Simply Fabulous’ 30th anniversary celebratory event reaches its fundraising target to fund a nurse for a year!

A celebratory event, entitled ‘Simply Fabulous’, was held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Lewis-Manning Hospice Care and was part of a year-long calendar of activities, organised by the hospice.

Held and hosted at St Giles House in Wimborne St Giles, the event successfully raised funds to go towards recruiting another Lewis-Manning Hospice Care Staff Nurse to support patients and continue to provide extraordinary care in the local community.

The spectacular evening was MC’d by AFC Bournemouth’s Jimmy Glass, and participants took part in a Heads & Tails game, followed by a silent and live auction, which sold off an impressive array of prizes, including a Porsche Driving Experience at Silverstone, Wimbledon tickets, stay over at Bovey Castle in Devon and a fabulous Walk on part in Doc Martin!

Headline partners of the event were Porsche Centre Bournemouth and upon arrival guests were able to look at two stunning Porsche cars at the entrance to the venue. Other sponsors included the dining sponsor which was Lester Aldridge and drinks sponsor which was Barratt Homes.

Jonathan Sullivan, Centre Principal at Porsche Centre Bournemouth added, “We are extremely proud and honoured that we supported Lewis-Manning Hospice Care for their 30th Anniversary event, it was certainly a night to remember! The business is always keen to be supportive of worthwhile events in our community and are conscious of the excellent work that the hospice delivers to patients and their loved ones in Poole, East Dorset and Purbeck.”

Chief Executive Clare Gallie advised, “It was such a superb evening, filled with so much fun and a wonderful gathering of our supporters from over the past 30 years.

“We are hugely grateful to everyone involved, from our sponsors, to staff, to volunteers to attendees.

“We were delighted and honoured to be hosted by Lord and Lady Shaftesbury in their beautiful home of St Giles House.  Sincere thanks too to our 30th anniversary celebration committee Chairman, Felicity Irwin, and everyone who made it such a fabulous celebration. The charity is overwhelmed by the generosity from everyone on the evening and it’s amazing to know all these fantastic people raised enough money to fund a staff nurse for a year! This will make such a huge difference in our community and help people in the local area receive the care they need and deserve.”

“Lewis-Manning Hospice Care has achieved so much in the past 30 years, helping over 8,000 patients, carers and loved ones to get the much-needed hospice care they deserve. None of this would have been possible without the incredible help and support from staff, volunteers, trustees and our community who have made the hospice the extraordinary beacon that it is.”
